I am Renee Van Nistelrooy, a passionate jewellery business owner. My journey into the jewellery industry was driven by my love for technical drawing, art, and the desire to help people. Creating personalized pieces of jewellery that bring my clients' visions to life is incredibly rewarding for me.
Art has always been a significant part of my life. From a young age, I displayed a keen interest in artistic expression, which led me to receive a full art scholarship sponsored by renowned artist Tim Wilson in New Zealand. This scholarship exposed me to various pencil drawing and rendering techniques, teaching me the impact of light and shadows on art. As I grew older, my perfectionism drew me towards technical drawing, particularly hand-drawn architectural drawings. These experiences have seamlessly merged into my expertise in jewellery technical drawing.
In 2020, amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, I established my own jewellery business. The timing was tough, as weddings came to a halt, and people's financial priorities shifted. However, I remained steadfast in my determination, fueled by the support of my family and the motivation to create a better future for them. My two beautiful children, Elena, and Andie have been my driving force.
What sets my jewellery business apart is the highly personalized experience I provide to my clients. I work closely with each individual, understanding their desires and aspirations, to create custom-made jewellery that tells their unique stories. Quality and ethical practices are always prioritized ensuring that all gemstones and diamonds are ethically sourced. By operating as a made-to-order business without inventory or a physical shop, I offer competitive pricing while maintaining exceptional craftsmanship.
Staying updated on industry trends is essential to me. I diligently follow designer brands, competitors, and influential figures, allowing me to remain attuned to the latest styles and designs. Additionally, I draw inspiration from celebrity fashion choices, which helps me understand the evolving landscape of jewellery trends.
For me, success in a jewellery business goes beyond making sales; it lies in building strong relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction. I focus on assisting my clients and helping them achieve their desired outcomes. By fostering trust and providing exceptional service, I create a supportive environment where clients feel valued and understood.
Balancing my business with the responsibilities of caring for my young children has been a challenge. However, I persevere by maximizing my available time and striving for balance in all aspects of my life.
One of the significant milestones in my journey was the recognition of my designs by Vogue Australia, which opened doors to remarkable opportunities. Collaborations with prestigious publications like Signature Luxury Travel and Style Magazine have elevated my brand's reputation,
establishing me as a trusted and reputable jewellery designer.
Looking ahead, I envision expanding my brand by opening a physical location—a store or showroom—where I can offer personalized consultations and create an even more immersive experience.
To aspiring jewellery business owners, I offer this advice based on my experiences: Never give up, even in the face of challenges. Focus on helping others rather than solely on making sales. By staying true to your values and genuinely assisting clients in achieving their desires, success will inevitably follow.
